Writing on the Edge 2018
Pre-Conference Workshop: Moving Beyond Writing Boundaries
College of DuPage
October 19, 2018
9:30 am – 4 pm
Join our Keynote Speaker, Shelley Rodrigo, for two interactive workshops the day before the conference:
9:30 am – 12 pm Writing Across the Digital Curriculum
Writing skills are often overlooked in a content-heavy, deadline-driven grading environment. Scaffolded assignments are one way to address this concern and have been shown to result in more robust educational outcomes. To facilitate improved writing across the curriculum in any classes that requires a larger research and/or writing project, this workshop asks faculty to explore digital technologies to help students scaffold their writing projects.
12 pm – 1 pm Lunch
1 pm – 4 pm If I Read Another Bad Paper I’ll Scream
Tired of reading bad research or term papers? Are you frustrated with the ease with which a student can copy and paste information from the internet, or just order a project from a paper mill? Fret no more . . . . come to this workshop to learn about a variety of different genres and technologies you might use to have students develop final projects that are not just the traditional paper.
Space is limited. The pre-conference workshop fee includes lunch and the registration for the Writing on the Edge Conference on Saturday, October 20th.
