Join us for our fifth annual Writing on the Edge conference for adjunct and contingent faculty. The theme, “Teaching the 21st Century Student,” focuses on how the current generation – known as iGen or Gen Z – has turned teaching on its head and how we as educators must adapt to the new normal of students attached to and distracted by their cell phones and tablets.  While many heralded technology in the classroom as a boon for all, technology hasn’t fulfilled many of its promises to increase student learning in and out of the classroom.

Originally designed by adjuncts in the English Department, Writing on the Edge now looks at writing across the curriculum and invites other disciplines to join the conversation of how to increase learning for students no matter the subject matter.  We continue to stay true to our roots of providing good, inexpensive professional development for adjuncts and contingent faculty, while also welcoming any faculty or staff looking to learn more about teaching.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Jean Twenge as our Keynote Speaker for this conference.  Dr. Twenge is a nationally known generational researcher and author of the book, iGen: Why Today’s Super-Connected Kids are Growing up Less Rebellious, More Tolerant, Less Happy – and Completely Unprepared for Adulthood . . .  and What That Means for the Rest of Us

Writing on the Edge is the only regional conference by and for adjunct and contingent faculty in the Midwest.

It’s time to register for the conference!  Please see our registration page for details and prices.
